The Government Expenditure and Project Efficiency Authority (EXPRO) aims to contribute to achieving expenditure efficiency in government entities, improving the quality of projects, assets, and facilities, as well as planning infrastructure, programs, initiatives, and operational processes funded by the Government’s budget. It also monitors entities’ implementation of programs and initiatives to achieve EXPRO’s objectives.

EXPRO was established by the Council of Ministers' resolution on February 23, 2021 (11 Rajab 1442 AH) under resolution No. (389), which entailed merging the National Program for Supporting Project Management, Operation and Maintenance in Public Entities (Mashroat) with the Center of Spending Efficiency and transforming the center into Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO).
